Women and children weep, by Lehlohonolo Lefera

The weep of women is like a sad river

That flows with an empty stream,

It touches the heart

And carries tears that bind the broken bones.

Filling the chamber with the call of smoke,

Moving the world into sharp shapes,

The wind blows and bursts into towering dunes,

Leaving the world with darkness and shade.

Women and children weep, broken

Wounds that continue to ache,

Pushing and continuing to speak out,

Women and children are so brave to speak out.
